Teacher and five others paraded for electricity meter theft in Osun state

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command, conducted a public parade on Monday.

They presented a group of suspects that included a private school teacher named John and five others.

These individuals were apprehended for allegedly tampering with electricity meters, attempting to consume electricity without paying the appropriate charges.

The other suspects were identified as Jaye Abayomi, Abidemi Enoch, Jackson Imukodro, Adeleke Fatimah, and Azeez Mutiu.

The arrests took place in various areas within Osogbo metropolis, including Awosuru, Alekuwodo, Jaleyemi, Ogo Oluwa, and Omigade.

The operation leading to their capture was a joint effort between NSCDC personnel and officials from the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, conducted on October 13, 2023.

Mr. Sunday Agboola, the Commandant of NSCDC Osun State, expressed his disappointment at the ongoing issue of electricity theft in the state, despite previous arrests aimed at discouraging such illegal activities.

He emphasized the commitment of NSCDC to tackle this problem. Upon the completion of the investigation, the suspects will be taken to court.
