The Niger Delta Oil and Gas Producing Communities Forum has called for the prompt inauguration of the newly constituted Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) board to accelerate the region’s transformation.
In a press statement, Chairman Chief Mulade Sheriff and Secretary Honourable Goodness Gereghewei, representing the forum, expressed their gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his electoral victory and for nominating NDDC board members from the member states, in compliance with the NDDC Act 2000.

The statement, released in Warri, Delta State, emphasized the importance of constituting the board without delay and forwarding the nominees’ list to the Senate for screening and confirmation.
This, they argued, would enable the board to effectively represent all member states and promote regional development.
The forum also reminded that past experiences with sole administrators and acting Managing Directors had hindered development and economic growth in the region, and they urged the President to ensure a more efficient governance structure for the NDDC.
