Volleyball leagues set to begin on October 6

The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVF) has unveiled the commencement date for the second phase of the 2023 National Division 1 and 2 volleyball leagues.

According to Martin Melandi, the Technical Director of the NVF, these leagues are scheduled to kick off on October 6 at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.

The event is expected to feature a total of 19 teams, with 11 teams participating in the Division 2 men’s league, five teams in the men’s Division 1 league, and three teams in the women’s Division 1 league.

At the conclusion of the season, two teams from the National Division 1 will be promoted to the Nigeria Volleyball Premier League, as approved by the League Management Committee.

Martin Melandi expressed his excitement about the upcoming event and stated, ‘We are trying to create a robust system that will translate to a win-win situation for all stakeholders.’

The delay in the second phase of the leagues was attributed to the recently concluded 2023 National Youth Games in Asaba.

With this new schedule, volleyball enthusiasts can look forward to thrilling matches and intense competition as teams vie for top honors in the upcoming tournament.
