The much-anticipated showdown between Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder, two heavyweight giants of the boxing world, has garnered significant attention.
However, Hall of Fame fighter Barry McGuigan has cautioned against Joshua stepping into the ring with Wilder.
The potential clash between Joshua and Wilder has long been a topic of fascination for boxing enthusiasts.
Both fighters have now lost their titles, making a unification bout impossible, and it appears they are finally considering facing each other.
In an interview with Boxing King Media, former featherweight champion McGuigan expressed relief that the fight had been postponed, especially for Joshua’s sake.
“It’s disappointing, but if I were managing Anthony Joshua, I wouldn’t go near Wilder. Wilder possesses tremendous power.

Despite his vulnerability and previous stoppages, as seen in fights against Fury, he has the kind of punching power that can reach you from the other side of the ring and knock your head off,” McGuigan cautioned.
“Why take the risk? I don’t think it’s a wise idea to face him, especially at this stage. If I were him, I’d focus on regaining the world title, either by fighting Fury or a rematch with Usyk,” he added.
Promoter Eddie Hearn, however, maintains that his fighter is still keen on taking on the hard-hitting American, even though they are now faced with the challenge of finding a new venue.

Hearn also remains open to the possibility of Joshua fighting a different opponent in December if the Wilder fight cannot be finalized.
As for Wilder, it appears that he will remain inactive until he secures a match with Joshua. Previous discussions of a bout with Andy Ruiz Jr. have faltered due to a disagreement over earnings.
