Bandits abduct 5 female students from Katsina university

Gunmen believed to be bandits have abducted five female students from the Federal University, Dutsinma (FUDMA), located in Katsina State.

The abduction took place in the early hours of Wednesday, October 4, 2023, as the gunmen reportedly invaded the off-campus dormitories of the students situated behind Mariamoh Ajiri Memorial School, Dutsinma, along Tsaskiya road.

According to one of the students at the university, “Five of them (the students) were kidnapped, they are from Kano and Nasarawa states, and two of them are final year students.”

Habibu Umar Aminu, the head of the Public Relations Unit of the university, confirmed the incident, stating that it occurred at approximately 2 am on Wednesday.

He added that ongoing efforts were being made to secure the safe release of the abducted victims.

In response to the situation, ASP Sadiq Aliyu Abubakar, the spokesperson for the Katsina State Police Command, confirmed the incident and announced the arrest of one individual suspected of providing information to the terrorists.

Several individuals were apprehended due to their suspected involvement in the abduction.
