Wike revokes 165 plots of land in Abuja

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has taken decisive action by revoking 165 plots of land located in the serviced districts of the Federal Capital City due to a lack of development.

This development was disclosed in an official statement issued by Muhammad Hazat Sule, the Director of Information and Communication at the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

The decision to revoke these plots came as a response to the violation of the terms of Rights of Occupancy, which were found to be in breach of the agreements established under the 1978 Land Use Act.

The affected plots are registered under the ownership of both corporate entities and individuals who consistently failed to adhere to the terms of the agreement as outlined in Section 28(5)(a) & (b) of the Land Use Act.

Additional affected districts are Jabi (B04), Utako (B05), Katampe Extension (B19), Idu Industrial Area (C16), and Asokoro (A04).

Sule’s statement clarified, “Accordingly, The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory has, in the exercise of the powers conferred on him under Section 28(5)(a) & (b) of the Land Use Act 1978 revoked the affected titles for continued contravention of the terms of development of the Right of Occupancy, to wit, non-development.”
