The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has released grim statistics indicating that 75 individuals lost their lives in road traffic accidents in Lagos State between January and August.
The FRSC Lagos Sector Commander, Babatunde Farinloye, conveyed this information to reporters on Wednesday, September 20, within Lagos. He further revealed that during this time frame, a total of 1,611 people were involved in accidents.

Farinloye specified that these accidents encompassed 102 minor incidents and 158 more serious ones. Additionally, the FRSC recorded a staggering 53,564 traffic violations, involving 44,269 offenders.
As the final four months of the year, often referred to as the “Ember Months,” have commenced, Farinloye addressed the notion that these months are more perilous, asserting that this belief is unsubstantiated.
He highlighted that the key difference between the months from January to August and the so-called ember months is the rise in various social, cultural, and religious activities, leading to increased vehicular traffic and, regrettably, more reckless behavior.
