Fake DSS officer arrested for job scam in Jigawa state

The Jigawa State Police Command has apprehended a 27-year-old man, Kamilu Bappa, for allegedly impersonating an officer of the Department of State Services (DSS).

According to DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the command’s spokesperson, who made this disclosure in a statement on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, the suspect, along with an accomplice, duped students from the Jigawa State Polytechnic in Dutse by falsely promising to help them secure jobs with the DSS and NDLEA.

“On 16/9/2023 at about 1100hrs, one Haruna Ibrahim ‘m’ and one other, both of Jigawa State Polytechnic Dutse, reported at Dutse police station that, one Kamilu Bappa ‘m’ of Garko LGA, Kano state, deceitfully introduced himself to them as personnel of the Department of State Services (DSS) and collected the sum of three hundred and five thousand naira (₦305,000.00) from them with the pretense of securing them DSS and Nigeria Drug and Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) jobs, respectively,” the statement read.

Upon receiving the report, detectives from the Dutse Division swiftly acted and arrested the suspect in possession of a DSS uniform trousers.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to committing the offense.

The Public Relations Officer (PPRO) added that the suspect would be brought before a court of law to face the full consequences of the law after a thorough investigation at the state SCID Dutse.
