Zamfara gov. commits to adequate education funding

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has pledged to allocate sufficient funds for education within the state’s budget.

This commitment was made during the 23rd matriculation ceremony held at the Zamfara College of Arts and Science (ZACAS) in Gusau, the state capital.

The matriculation ceremony welcomed 2,369 newly admitted students for the institution’s 2023/2024 academic session.

ZACAS encompasses various schools, including the School of Science Technology, Legal Studies, School of Art and Humanities, School of Mass Communication and Information, and School of Preliminary Studies.

In a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, Governor Lawal emphasized the importance of high-quality, inclusive education for all residents of Zamfara State, aligning with the Social Development Goals on education.

He commended the College’s track record in providing opportunities for youth and pledged to address challenges facing tertiary institutions, including funding, laboratory facilities, affiliation, accreditation, and institutional infrastructure improvements.

Governor Lawal reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritizing education and expressed his intention to make significant investments in upgrading infrastructure and enhancing learning resources across all tertiary institutions in the state.

Dr. Yakubu Sani, the Provost of ZACAS, also lauded the governor for consistently offering scholarships to over 200 ZACAS students annually from his personal funds for the past decade.
