US court grants Atiku’s request for release of Tinubu’s academic records

The United States District Court in the Northern District of Illinois has ruled in favor of Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), granting his request for the release of President Bola Tinubu’s academic records by Chicago State University.

The ruling, delivered by US Magistrate Judge Jeffrey Gilbert on Tuesday, orders Chicago State University to provide “all relevant and non-privileged documents” to Atiku Abubakar within a two-day timeframe.

The court recognized the arguments made by Tinubu’s legal team regarding the privacy privilege but specified that only “non-privileged documents” should be produced.

Atiku initiated this legal action to compel the university to release Tinubu’s academic records.

It’s worth noting that this development comes shortly after the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal upheld Tinubu’s victory.

Atiku and his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi, have subsequently filed 86 grounds of appeal at the Supreme Court in an attempt to overturn the judgment.

Both candidates have challenged the PEPT ruling, labeling it as erroneous.

Atiku’s appeal is based on 35 grounds, while Obi has cited 51 grounds of contention, including issues related to electronic result transmission and votes from the Federal Capital Territory.
