The 69 individuals apprehended on August 27th in Ekpan Community, Uvwie Local Government Area (LGA) of Delta State during a gay wedding ceremony have been granted bail.
The suspects’ counsel, Ochuko Ohimor, confirmed this information and disclosed that each individual was granted bail with a sum of N500,000 along with two sureties.
These sureties are required to reside within the jurisdiction of the Effurun Court, where the suspects were initially arraigned on September 4th.

While the police prosecutor, Vincent Orarumen, had initially opposed the bail conditions, the suspects’ lawyer argued that the alleged crime did not constitute a capital offence.
The arrest of these individuals occurred on August 29th when they were paraded before the media at the Ekpan Police Station, following their apprehension during what was referred to as an “all white party,” which was, in reality, a gay wedding ceremony.
This action was taken by a team of police operatives from the Ekpan Division, under the directive of Delta State’s Commissioner of Police, Wale Abass.
