The Owners of Private Schools Association of Nigeria (OPSAN) has requested the Anambra State Government to reevaluate the various taxes and levies imposed by its agencies on private school proprietors.
This plea was made by OPSAN’s National President, Prof Uzochukwu Nwanonyuo, during the inauguration of the new Anambra state executive led by Chief Ernest Iwuamadi.
Nwanonyuo emphasized that private schools should be viewed as institutions providing social services rather than business ventures.

He urged Governor Chukwuma Soludo to intervene promptly and alleviate the burden of multiple taxes, illegal fees, and other unjustified payments placed on private schools.
Iwuamadi, the new state president of OPSAN, expressed concern about the discrimination against private schools, highlighting that public and mission schools are exempt from multiple levies and taxes.
