Adamawa State police have arrested a 36-year-old man, Jafaru Adamu, a resident of Anguwar Diocese Kala’a in Hong local government, in connection to the alleged rape of his 21-year-old neighbor’s wife.
According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Sulaiman Nguroje, the incident occurred on August 15 in the afternoon when the suspect took advantage of the survivor’s husband’s absence to commit the alleged crime.
“Investigation, so far, reveals that the suspect was wearing a black face mask and also carried a knife, which he used to threaten the victim into compliance.

Unfortunately, while committing the act, his mask fell off, and he fled the crime scene through the window after the survivor recognized him,” Nguroje said.
The incident was reported to the Divisional Police Headquarters Kala’a by the survivor’s husband.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, has directed the officer in charge of the Family Support Unit to take over the investigation and ensure diligent prosecution.
CP Babatola also expressed empathy for the husband of the survivor and called on the public to support the command’s efforts in ending all forms of gender-based violence.
