American singer Nelly has officially confirmed that he is back together with Ashanti, a decade after their initial breakup.

Reports of their reconciliation emerged earlier this year, and Nelly has now openly acknowledged their renewed relationship, emphasizing that the reunion was not a planned endeavor.

During an interview with Love and Hip Hop stars Rasheeda and Kirk Frost, Nelly shared, “Yeah, we cool again.” He added, “I think it surprised both of us though. It wasn’t anything that I don’t think was planned.”

Nelly, who is 48 years old, believes that the extended period apart from each other has been beneficial for their reunion. He expressed that the time apart allowed them to better understand each other and their relationship.

“I think we both were pretty much doing what we do, but sometimes being separate, you understand one another more,” Nelly explained. “You be like, ‘Yo, let me see exactly what they see.’ You know, because we all can be defensive sometimes in our own relationships. We know we’re wrong, but we’re going to stand on it. But we’re all a victim to that.”

According to Nelly, their current relationship “feels good” because there is no pressure on either of them. He noted that in the past, their careers and the involvement of many people made it challenging.

The speculations about Nelly and Ashanti’s reunion began when they were seen together in Las Vegas in March.

A week later, they attended a 40th birthday party for businessman Jon Schwartz together.

In December of the previous year, Ashanti surprised fans by joining Nelly on stage during the Power 98.3 and 96.1’s Under the Mistletoe concert.

Ashanti, now 42, spoke about the public’s reaction to their reunion during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live. She expressed her surprise at the overwhelming interest from fans wanting them to get back together, saying, “My reaction was, ‘wow.’

It was a lot of comments and a lot of people wanting that.” She added that they are now in a better place and have had conversations, describing their current status as “cool.”

Nelly and Ashanti, whose real name is Cornell Haynes Jr., first started dating in 2003.
