The swift response from the Agbodo Division of the Nigeria Police Force in Ogun State successfully prevented a potentially deadly clash between rival cult groups in the Fadunsin area of Ijoko.
The conflict, driven by a quest for supremacy, posed a grave threat to lives and safety.
Acting on a tip-off, law enforcement officers, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Adekunle Awoniyi, swiftly intervened on September 4 to quell the violence instigated by the cultists.
The Ogun State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed that two male suspects, 27-year-old Sodiq Idowu and 25-year-old Yusuf Wahab, were apprehended during the operation.
Both individuals confessed to being affiliated with the ‘EIYE’ Confraternity and provided valuable information to detectives about locating other suspects who had fled the scene.

“They have also shared information about the syndicate, the whereabouts of their weapons, and the location of their armorer,” noted the PPRO.
Preliminary investigations are ongoing at the Agbado Police Station, with plans to transfer the suspects to the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for a more in-depth inquiry into their involvement in the EIYE Confraternity and related criminal activities.
The Ogun State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha psc, remains dedicated to combatting cultism and associated crimes.
The command deploys both material resources and human resources daily to ensure the safety of Ogun State residents.
