Ekiti first lady condemns tragic killing of FUOYE student

The spouse of the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, has expressed her strong disapproval of the tragic killing of Miss Deborah Modupe Atanda, a female student at the Federal University, Oye Ekiti (FUOYE).

She extended her condolences to the bereaved family and the entire university community, mourning the loss of a promising young student.

Mrs. Oyebanji characterized the murder as an abhorrent and shocking act of cruelty, deeply distressing and utterly condemnable.

She stressed that such violent acts have no place within the boundaries of a civilized academic institution, which should ideally be a nurturing environment for future leaders.

In her view, a university’s primary purpose should revolve around academic pursuits and the free exchange of ideas, rather than serving as a backdrop for tragic incidents that curtail the aspirations of the next generation of leaders.

Mrs. Oyebanji called upon law enforcement agencies to exhaust all available resources and efforts to apprehend and prosecute those responsible for this heinous crime.
