A 52-year-old individual by the name of Marcus Olasege found himself facing legal consequences when he was brought before Magistrate O.Y. Adefope of the Yaba Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.
The charges against him were two-fold: assault and a breach of peace, specifically involving an altercation with one Mohammed Alli.
The incident stemmed from a prior dispute between Olasege and Alli, the details of which remained undisclosed.
Seeking resolution or possibly retribution, Olasege ventured to Alli’s construction site, where he took to hurling stones at the workers in a fit of anger when he couldn’t locate Alli.

Alli eventually appeared at the scene, and matters escalated dramatically. Reports indicated that Olasege resorted to violence, brandishing a knife and inflicting injuries on Alli’s left side of the face and stomach.
This incident took place on August 12, 2023, around noon, at Bishop Oluwole Street in Lagos State.
The charges brought against Olasege under Sections 168(d) and 173 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015 explicitly detailed the alleged offense: assaulting Mohammed Alli with a knife, resulting in significant injuries and blood loss.
During the court proceedings, Olasege pleaded not guilty to the charges. Subsequently, the magistrate granted him bail amounting to N200,000, with the requirement of two sureties posting an equal sum.
The case was adjourned until September 22, 2023, for further proceedings, while Olasege was temporarily remanded in the custody of the Nigeria Correctional Service until he fulfilled his bail conditions.
