LP expresses concerns over Justice Odili’s pre-judgment remarks on PEPC

The Labour Party has voiced its concerns about retired Justice of the Supreme Court, Mary Odili’s statement regarding the upcoming judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Court.

The party characterized her statement as a pre-emptive pronouncement and expressed the need to draw attention to this development before the PEPC ruling scheduled for Wednesday.

Obiora Ifoh, the National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, issued a statement in Abuja to highlight the party’s concerns.

He emphasized that such unguarded statements from a former Justice of the Supreme Court and the boasting of certain individuals about the judgment’s outcome are unsettling for the party.

Ifoh criticized the lavish praises bestowed upon the legal counsels of both the APC and candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu by Justice Mary Odili at an event that was unrelated to them.

He found this conduct undignified for a renowned jurist who reached the pinnacle of her career in the country’s highest court.

The party also raised questions about the abrupt change in the PEPC’s stance on live coverage of the judgment, as they initially refused live coverage of the hearings but now seem eager to broadcast the conclusion.
