Ogun state local government chairman regains freedom

The recently released Hon Wale Adedayo, who served as the Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government Area in Ogun State, found himself detained by the Department of State Security Services.

His release came after several days in detention, and he shared insights on his ordeal.

Adedayo revealed that his summoning by the DSS stemmed from a petition accusing him of making incendiary remarks that posed a threat to public tranquility.

However, he firmly asserted that he had never made any such provocative statements apart from highlighting the issue of local governments receiving no financial allocation from the state government for the past two years.

Adedayo remained resolute despite his tribulations and expressed his determination to challenge what he considered an unjust suspension from office, which occurred just the previous Thursday.

He further disclosed that his letter reporting Governor Dapo Abiodun to former Governor Chief Olusegun Osoba was a collective effort with other local government chairmen in the state.

Adedayo expressed surprise that his colleagues had withdrawn their support from the endeavor, which aimed primarily at promoting good governance at the grassroots level.
