The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, led by Akinde Olusola, successfully averted a potential fire disaster on the Stadium Bridge, near Ojuelegba, Lagos.
The incident involved a gas-laden truck with registration number KRD 281 XL, which struck a newly erected barrier at Alaka, heading towards the Stadium area.
In an attempt to pass under the barrier, the gas truck spilled its contents onto the main carriageway by the Alaka inward Stadium bridge.
Following the incident, LASTMA officials quickly engaged emergency responders, including the Lagos State Fire Service, to manage the situation.
They also cordoned off the main carriageway at Alaka near Stadium bridge to prevent potential fires.

The truck’s driver was apprehended and handed over to the police from Area ‘C’ Divisional Police Station. Traffic was redirected to the service lane from Alaka towards Ojuelegba to ensure smooth flow.
Mr. Bolaji Oreagba, the General Manager of LASTMA, clarified that the recently erected barrier at Stadium bridge aimed to divert heavy trucks to the service lane from Alaka toward Ojuelegba.
He urged heavy truck drivers to consistently use the service lane for their journeys in the Stadium to Ojuelegba area.
The Ojuelegba area has witnessed several accidents recently, including container-laden truck incidents.
As a response, the Lagos State Government has prohibited truck drivers from using Dorman Long and Ojuelegba bridges and instructed LASTMA to enforce the directive.
A task force comprising LASTMA and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) was also formed to address the issue of truck crashes on Ojuelegba Bridge and other road accidents in the state.
