The Ebonyi State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticized the 13 local government area chairmen in the state for commemorating their “one year” in office, asserting that there is no cause for celebration.
According to the main opposition party, none of these council leaders has initiated significant projects in their respective areas to warrant the substantial monthly allocations they receive from the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee.
Chika Nwoba, the PDP Publicity Secretary, expressed these sentiments during a press briefing in Abakaliki, emphasizing that the local government chairmen had yet to respond to allegations of diverting a N2 billion ecological fund intended to bribe judges at the Ebonyi Governorship Elections Petition Tribunal in Abuja.

Nwoba asserted that these council chairmen are unlawfully occupying their positions, and the people of Ebonyi are closely monitoring their actions.
He suggested that they will eventually be held accountable for how they have managed public funds.
He stated, “They are merely occupying the position against the law, and soon they will have to return the people’s money.”
Nwoba further challenged the chairmen to refute the allegations concerning the diverted ecological fund, which was allegedly employed in an attempt to influence the outcome of the gubernatorial election petition tribunal.
