Tragedy struck as two church attendees, Femi Akinola and Tunde Falade, lost their lives by drowning in a river during a swimming outing on Monday.
The incident occurred in the Cherubim and Seraphim Church at Onikoko, near the Itori region of Ogun State, Nigeria.
Both individuals, who had come from Lagos for the church event, were transported to the Ifo General Hospital where their deaths were confirmed.
Omolola Odutola, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, provided details in a statement on Tuesday.

A member of the church named Adebayo Adeosun reported that a group of around seven boys had arrived from Lagos on August 27, 2023, for a church occasion.
They ventured out to swim but tragically drowned in the process.
The deceased individuals were identified as Femi Akinola, aged 32, from Odo Eran, Itire, Lagos State, and Tunde Falade, aged 35, from Kola Alagbado, Lagos.
Despite being rescued from strong tides and rushed to the Health Centre in Itori, both individuals were declared dead by a medical doctor on duty.
Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Olayemi Jacob, led a team to the scene and confirmed no signs of violence or foul play.
