Tinubu tasks ministers to revive economy with urgency

President Bola Tinubu, during his inaugural Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, tasked his ministers with focusing on reviving the economy and improving citizens’ lives.

He highlighted the urgency of the task, emphasizing that all responsible parties must give their best effort.

He underlined the administration’s economic priorities and stressed the importance of success, with no room for failure.

Tinubu also expressed his willingness to listen to concerns and corrections from his team.

During the post-FEC briefing, ministers discussed plans to rejuvenate the economy, with emphasis on key areas like food security, job creation, and reducing poverty.

The administration inherited economic challenges, including high unemployment and inflation.

The focus is on creating a conducive environment for investment and production, aiming to increase government revenue without excessive borrowing.

Meanwhile, Tinubu directed government officials attending the United Nations General Assembly to provide evidence of direct participation to receive a visa, part of broader measures to reduce governance costs.

However, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) criticized the administration’s policies, alleging increasing hardship, insecurity, and a lack of governance transparency.
