A man whose identity remains unknown was reportedly killed by soldiers in the Otto area of Lagos mainland during a confrontation with unidentified soldiers.
It was revealed that these soldiers had been dispatched to ensure the security of Chinese workers engaged in maintenance construction along railway tracks.
However, local youths, referred to as ‘Omo onile’, had been engaged in conflicts with the construction crew.
According to a local source, the construction workers had opted to employ soldiers rather than the police, as they believed the police were incapable of handling the confrontations with the local youths.
The Lagos State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, refrained from commenting on the incident, stating that jurisdiction belonged to the Railway Command.

A source within the police command confirmed the event and expressed concern over the alleged ongoing misconduct by soldiers in Lagos.
The source questioned the repeated instances of fatal incidents involving soldiers and demanded an end to such occurrences.
Video footage of the incident showed two men dressed in military uniforms firing shots, inciting panic among residents. In the video, a voice was heard lamenting the loss of life caused by the soldiers’ actions.
A separate video displayed the deceased man lying in a pool of blood, purportedly a result of being shot by the soldiers, while onlookers surrounded the scene in mourning.
