Nigerian music icon, 2Baba, has implied that Sound Sultan, his late friend and fellow musician who passed away from throat cancer in 2021, might have been saved with an early diagnosis.
2Baba shared that during Sound Sultan’s illness, they initially believed it was malaria.
He also pointed out the inadequacies of the country’s healthcare system that contributed to the delayed diagnosis.

Speaking on the Afrobeats podcast hosted by Adesope Olajide, 2Baba mentioned that Sound Sultan’s loss was profound and difficult to accept.
Sound Sultan, who was known for his hit “Jagbajantis,” died at the age of 44 in the United States after being diagnosed with Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, a form of throat cancer.
