Trump arrested in election case: Mug shot released amid legal battles

Former US President Donald Trump was arrested in a Georgia jail on charges of racketeering and conspiracy related to an alleged effort to overturn the 2020 election results in the state.

After a brief stay at Atlanta’s Fulton County Jail, Trump left in a motorcade for the airport.

The arrest included the taking of his mug shot, a first for any current or former US president.

Trump, a leading contender for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, expressed his view that the arrest marked a “travesty of justice” and denied any wrongdoing.
