Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy, also known as Damini Ogulu, has shared the unique inspiration behind his upcoming seventh studio album titled ‘I Told Them.’
Burna Boy disclosed the backstory during a recent interview with the American media outlet Complex.
He explained that the album’s name was derived from a reflective journey he took down memory lane by scrolling through his old tweets on his Twitter page.
While doing so, he discovered that he had previously tweeted about his current accomplishments and successes.
This realization led him to name the album ‘I Told Them,’ signifying that he had indeed predicted his achievements.

The artist clarified that in the album title, the word “Them” refers to anyone who doubted or didn’t believe in him at different points in his career.
The decision to name the album in this way was sparked by Burna Boy’s realization of how his past statements aligned with his present reality.
Scheduled for release on August 25, 2023, Burna Boy’s album ‘I Told Them’ is highly anticipated by fans and the music industry alike. Burna Boy revealed that there will be a sequel to this album, hinting at more exciting musical projects in the pipeline.
