Tobi Amusan initiates world title defense with effortless victory in 100m hurdles heat

At the World Athletics Championship in Budapest, Nigerian athlete Tobi Amusan commenced her defense of the 100m hurdles title on Tuesday.

She clinched the top spot in her heat, marking her return to competitive racing after being cleared of doping allegations by the Athletics Integrity Unit.

Amusan, the current world record holder, completed the race in 12.48 seconds (with a wind speed of 0.4), securing victory in the fifth heat.

She outpaced Jamaican Champion Megan Tapper, who secured second place in 12.51 seconds, and Australian Michelle Jenneke, who finished in 12.71 seconds.

Just slightly over a year after her remarkable world record achievement in Eugene, USA, Amusan has continued her impressive performance streak.

Notably, she successfully defended her Diamond League title during a record-breaking season that witnessed her setting remarkable new records.
