Elon Musk has revealed a change in the functionality of the X social media platform (previously known as Twitter). He stated that the option to block other accounts will no longer be available.

This feature allowed users to prevent specific accounts from accessing their content or engaging with it.

However, Musk clarified that the block button will still be retained for direct messages (DMs), ensuring that users can control who can communicate with them privately.

The decision to eliminate the block option for general content was explained by Musk as illogical.

Instead of blocking, users will have the option to use the mute button.

Muting an account will prevent their posts from appearing on the user’s timeline, although the posts can still be accessed by clicking on links.

Additionally, the muted account will still have the ability to view the content of the user who muted them.
