Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has endorsed Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as a strong contender for this year’s African Player of the Year award.
Gyan highlighted Osimhen’s outstanding performance in the previous season, giving him an advantage over other players.

Osimhen, 24, notably scored 26 goals in 32 league matches for Napoli, contributing to their Serie A championship victory.
The last Nigerian player to clinch the award was former Arsenal forward Kanu Nwankwo in 1999.
Gyan expressed his belief that Osimhen, with his achievements and impact, is well-positioned to secure the coveted title for the best African player of 2023.
