Four arrested for allegedly torturing boy over suspected N21,000

Four individuals, including three male hunters and a woman, have been apprehended by the Adamawa State Police Command on charges of torturing a 14-year-old boy named Abobo Nasani.

The incident reportedly stemmed from suspicions of Nasani stealing N21,000 belonging to Ngularo Pemu, both residents of Tasala community in the Demsa Local Government Area.

Pemu, suspecting Nasani of the theft, sought the assistance of local hunters, namely Kanisi India, Paul India, and Dickson Hani, to address the situation.

The suspects are being investigated for their alleged involvement in subjecting the minor to physical abuse and torment.

It is reported that Nasani was bound to a tree, subjected to physical abuse, deprived of food, and doused with petrol and local gin over a span of two days before being left by the roadside in Demsa.

Although the accused hunters admitted to mistreating the boy, they stated that their initial investigation seemed to indicate his involvement in the theft, although he refused to divulge the location of the money.

Nasani’s father, Marvelous Tunoh, shared that the hunters abandoned his son by the roadside after failing to establish a connection to the crime.

The arrested individuals have reportedly confessed to their actions, expressed remorse, and pleaded for leniency.

The Adamawa State Police Command, under the directive of Commissioner of Police CP Afolabi Babatola, is set to take legal action against the suspects for prosecution.
