Atedo Peterside insists that ‘All Eyes On The Judiciary’ slogan non-offensive to right thinking individuals

Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc Founder, Atedo Peterside, has characterized the controversial slogan “All Eyes On The Judiciary” as an impartial phrase that, under normal circumstances, should not provoke offense to a rational individual.

Initially emerging as a social media campaign by supporters of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s Presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, the narrative “All Eyes on the Election Tribunal Judges” gained momentum.

As the court prepared to announce its decision regarding the challenges against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s election victory, the “Diaspora for Good Governance” group initiated the campaign to advocate for what they claimed was justice.

The phrase gained significant popularity and was prominently displayed on billboards throughout Nigeria.

However, due to its rising prominence, the Federal Government disbanded the Advertising Standard Panel (ASP) Secretariat, citing the phrase’s alleged offense to the judiciary.

Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, Director-General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), directed the nationwide removal of the billboards, asserting that the slogan constituted an attempt to manipulate the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

Addressing this situation on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, Peterside expressed his perspective, stating that, in his view, the hashtag #AllEyesOnTheJudiciary was a neutral expression that should not generally offend a morally upright and genuine person within a civilized society.
