Troops neutralize 28 terrorists and detain 114 criminals over two week period

Between August 7 and 17, 2023, Nigerian troops engaged in operations across the country resulting in the elimination of 28 terrorists and the apprehension of 114 criminals, according to the Defence Headquarters.

The detained individuals include 92 terrorists, six gunrunners, three kidnappers, six collaborators, and seven suspected oil thieves.

Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, announced these developments during a press briefing in Abuja.

He highlighted the dedication of the armed forces in safeguarding the nation, underscoring their repeated commitment to confronting threats.

In addition to these achievements, troops rescued 82 kidnapped civilians and thwarted oil theft attempts, preventing a loss of N876,451,800.00.

The military also recovered 108 weapons and 564 rounds of ammunition, comprising rifles, guns, grenades, and other equipment.

Moreover, confiscated items encompassed vehicles, motorcycles, communication devices, and even various types of fuel.

Buba indicated that operations extended to the Niger Delta region, where troops discovered and dismantled illegal refining sites, confiscated stolen oil, and eliminated various tools and equipment used for criminal activities.
