President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm wishes to former military Head of State, Retired Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, on the occasion of his 82nd birthday.
In a concise statement released on Wednesday by Aguri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, President Tinubu lauded Gen. Babangida’s illustrious career and contributions to the Nigerian army.
He highlighted the retired military leader’s instrumental role in enhancing the nation’s development through initiatives such as the creation of states to bolster federal structure, advancements in physical infrastructure, liberalization of the media sector, and various efforts in healthcare and defense.

President Tinubu acknowledged Gen. Babangida’s lasting influence, noting his enduring wisdom and guidance for political leaders within and beyond Nigeria’s borders, even three decades after leaving power.
Gen. Babangida, who governed Nigeria from 1985 to 1993, was born on August 17, 1941, in Minna, Niger State.
