The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is in discussions with Jose Peseiro regarding a new contract as the national coach.
NFF President Ibrahim Gusau mentioned that Peseiro’s previous contract ended in July and talks are currently underway with him and his legal representatives.
Peseiro had initially signed a one-year contract, but the negotiations were delayed due to the rescheduled 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, for which his contract was based.
The NFF aims to finalize an agreement soon, taking into account recommendations from the technical committee.

Peseiro’s current monthly salary of $70,000 is being renegotiated, with the NFF proposing a significant reduction.
The new contract is expected to extend at least until the end of the competition in Ivory Coast.
Additionally, Randy Waldrum, the coach of Nigeria’s women’s team, has also seen his contract expire after leading the team to the Round of 16 in the Women’s World Cup.
A decision regarding Waldrum’s contract is pending, especially as the team prepares to embark on qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics next month.
The Super Eagles, led by Peseiro, have secured qualification for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, and they will conclude their qualifying campaign against Sao Tome and Principe on September 10.
