Governor Umar Muhammed Bago expressed concern about the detrimental impact of banditry, cattle rustling, illegal mining, and similar activities on the state’s residents.
During a visit from the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Bago revealed that farmers are the most affected, with many abandoning their fields out of fear of attacks.

Bago emphasized that despite Niger State’s distinction as a significant agricultural region, often referred to as the country’s food basket due to its expansive and agriculturally viable landmass, the escalating security challenges have rendered its people vulnerable to criminal elements, including bandits.
