Osun implements ‘No Work, No Pay’ policy for striking polytechnic workers

The Osun State Government has enforced the ‘no work, no pay’ policy against striking employees of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, as communicated in a memo signed by the acting Registrar, Mr. Abiodun Oloyede.

This decision comes after the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Ospoly chapter, initiated a strike following the suspension of the institution’s Rector, Dr. Tajudeen Odetayo, over alleged misconduct and financial impropriety.

Despite the government’s directive for the polytechnic to reopen while an investigative panel examines the issues related to Odetayo’s suspension, the workers have refrained from resuming their duties.

In response, the polytechnic’s management issued a new memo in Osogbo, stipulating that all staff must report for duty to conduct the suspended part-time students’ first semester examinations.

The memo further indicated that attendance registers would be maintained, and the ‘no work, no pay’ policy would be enforced against employees who fail to return to work starting from August 14, 2023.

The government’s decision aims to address the ongoing labor dispute and ensure the continuation of essential educational activities at the institution.
