Apple is set to introduce a subtle but potentially disruptive change in its iPhone software with the upcoming iOS 17 update: the relocation of the prominent red “end call” button.
The modification will reposition the hang-up button to the lower right corner of the phone app’s screen, alongside other functions, departing from its current location at the bottom center of the screen.
The new call screen design, already accessible in a beta version for developers, has triggered strong reactions among iOS users on social media platforms.
The change aims to create a more streamlined appearance for the phone app by consolidating all functions in a single location.
This adjustment comes as part of a series of updates unveiled by Apple during its Worldwide Developer Conference.

The iOS 17 update will bring personalized features for calling and messaging, such as customizable contact “posters,” real-time transcription of voicemail messages, and the ability to share contact information via a tool named NameDrop.
FaceTime will support the option to leave video messages for unavailable contacts. Other enhancements in iOS 17 include improved autocorrect accuracy, enhanced dictation in iMessage, and a more responsive Siri.
The iOS 17 update is anticipated to be released in September, following Apple’s annual iPhone event.
While this change may disrupt users’ muscle memory initially, it aims to create a more cohesive and efficient user experience within the phone app.
