FG files fresh charges against Emefiele

The Federal Government has requested the withdrawal of the illegal firearms possession charge against the suspended Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Godwin Emefiele.

The Director of Public Prosecutions at the Federal Ministry of Justice, Mohammed Bakodo Abubakar, presented an oral application to the federal high court in Ikoyi, citing the outcome of additional investigations.

Abubakar also revealed that new charges, consisting of 20 counts, have been brought against Emefiele at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Emefiele had previously faced a two-count charge related to firearms possession at a federal high court in Ikoyi, Lagos, on July 25.
