Customs officials in Ogun State have seized smuggled goods worth N17 million, including 203 bags of imported rice, five vehicles, and 1,245 rounds of live ammunition.
The contraband items were discovered abandoned in a bush path near an exit point to the Republic of Benin.
The interception occurred during the early hours of August 12, 2023, when a Customs team discovered the hidden goods loaded into old vehicles.

The confiscated ammunition was ingeniously concealed within 20 bags of the intercepted foreign rice.
The Duty Paid Value of the seized items is estimated at N17,638,145.
The confiscated goods have been secured for further action as investigations continue to identify those responsible for the attempted smuggling.
