Ekpa issues fresh warning to oil companies over sit at home order

Simon Ekpa, the self-proclaimed leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has issued a warning to oil-producing companies operating in the South-East region of Nigeria.

Ekpa cautioned these companies against disregarding the Monday sit-at-home order and believing false claims that the order had been revoked.

In a video shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account, he emphasized that companies heeding such misinformation and resuming operations would face severe consequences.

Ekpa emphasized that the only recognized authority to make decisions like canceling the sit-at-home order is the Biafran government in exile, of which he claims to be the prime minister.

He stated that the sit-at-home directive would persist until their demands are met, which include the release of Nnamdi Kanu and conditions for the autonomy of Biafran territories.

He further warned oil companies to comply with the ongoing sit-at-home order, stating that failure to do so would result in repercussions and that the Biafran people hold the land’s ownership, and any disregard for their demands would not be tolerated.

The sit-at-home directive, according to Ekpa, remains in effect, and oil-producing companies should suspend their operations until the specified date, while also observing sit-at-home protests every Monday.

He stressed that the Biafran government in exile has not canceled the order and urged companies not to underestimate the resolve of the Biafran people.
