Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, received Rebecca Kabu, one of the Chibok schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram in 2014, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Alongside Vice President’s wife, Hajia Nana Shettima, Tinubu assured Rebecca of medical care and support to resume school at her own pace.
Acknowledging the efforts of the National Security Adviser and security agencies involved in Rebecca’s rescue, Tinubu pledged to prioritize the remaining girls in captivity and praised her NGO, Renewed Hope Initiative, for its work in facilitating the return of mature girls to education.

Tinubu highlighted the importance of education for girls, enabling them to manage legacies and contribute to society.
She emphasized the need for quality education for those who had been forced out of school, mentioning her discussion with the NSA about alternative high school options.
Rebecca, rescued at age 13 and now 22, was declared medically fit by the Coordinator of the Counter Terrorism Centre, and plans for her education support were outlined.
