Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has officially inaugurated the Youth Sanitation Programme, aiming to revitalize the cleanliness of the state capital, Gusau, and its surrounding areas.
The initiative, unveiled at the Old Council Chamber, Government House, aligns with the administration’s commitment to fostering hygiene practices as a preventive measure against diseases.
According to a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the program’s key objective is to generate employment prospects for the state’s burgeoning youth population.
The initial phase of the project has commenced by enlisting 1,500 young individuals, thoughtfully selected from five wards within Gusau Local Government Area, in addition to 10 coordinators and 65 supervisors.
The selected participants represent the Galadima, Mayana, Madawaki, Sabon Gari, and Tudun Wada wards of Gusau. Governor Lawal emphasized the importance of the youth’s dedication to their assigned responsibilities, underlining that this sanitation initiative is just one among several endeavors aimed at youth engagement.
