Governor Mohammed Bago has revealed that discussions are underway with private airline operators to initiate commercial flights at the state-owned Minna International Airport in Niger State.
The governor disclosed this information while inspecting the ongoing reconstruction of the airport’s runway and terminals in Maikunkele.
Expressing concerns about the progress of the terminal construction, Bago emphasized that the state intends to engage the contractor to expedite the completion of the project.

He highlighted the significance of finishing the terminal to pave the way for the resumption of commercial flights at the airport.
Regarding the runway project, the governor expressed satisfaction with the quality of work completed so far and expressed confidence that the project would be completed by August 15, 2023.
The contractor provided assurance that the runway would be paved with asphalt by the following Tuesday, enabling aircraft to start landing on it from August 16.
