The Federal High Court in Lagos has scheduled August 15 for the hearing of an application by Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
He aims to stop his trial by the Federal Government through the Department of State Services (DSS).
The court will also consider a DSS application to appeal the N20 million bail granted to Emefiele.
Justice Nicholas Oweibo decided on the date to allow Emefiele’s defense to respond to the prosecution’s counter-affidavit.
This was presented to the defense just before the proceedings started on Thursday.

Emefiele’s fresh Motion on Notice requests the court to dismiss the illegal firearms charges filed by the DSS and secure his release.
His lawyer, Joseph Daudu (SAN), argued that the DSS cannot continue the prosecution while disregarding the court’s bail order.
Daudu called for an order that prevents the DSS from prosecuting the case and appealing the bail order until they comply with the court’s directives.
