A group of young lawyers is urging President Bola Tinubu to intervene and release former Presidential Reform Task Force chief, Abdulrasheed Maina, and his son, Faisal, on compassionate and health grounds.

The lawyers, organized under the Young Lawyers League of Nigeria, emphasized Maina’s deteriorating health and submitted a letter through the Secretary General of the Federation’s office outlining their demands.

They argued that Maina had previously contributed significantly to the country’s welfare by recovering substantial amounts of money during different administrations.

They highlighted his contributions of recovering N1.3 trillion during Goodluck Jonathan’s presidency and N1.6 trillion during President Muhammadu Buhari’s era.

The lawyers pleaded for an end to his undue persecution, asserting that his health concerns should be considered as part of his release.
