INEC receives innovative electoral tools from EU to strengthen Nigeria’s democratic governance

The European Union Support to Democratic Governance in Nigeria (EU-SDGN) has provided the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with advanced tools for electoral management, delivered through Development Alternatives Incorporated (DAI).

These tools aim to further enhance Nigeria’s electoral processes.

Included among the items are the Collation and Returning Officers Management System (CROMS), Election Results Management System (ERMS), Political Parties Financial Reporting and Audit System (PFRAS), Media Monitoring and Analysis Tool, and an Online App for voters and electoral officers to easily locate polling units nationwide.

Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of INEC, expressed gratitude for the EU-SDGN’s support and highlighted that INEC will carefully assess the tools to address immediate and emerging challenges in election conduct.

The CROMS aims to improve the recruitment process for collation and returning officers, while the ERMS enhances results management accuracy and compliance with the electoral act.

The media monitoring tool aids in filtering media coverage, and the PFRAS assists in more efficient political party finance monitoring.
