Former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, and ex-Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, held a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday.
The purpose of the meeting appears to be related to El-Rufai’s recent rejection by the Senate for ministerial confirmation.
El-Rufai and Wike were among the 48 individuals nominated by the President for ministerial positions, but only 45 of them were approved by the Senate due to security concerns.
El-Rufai was one of the three unconfirmed nominees.
The visit took place two days after the Senate’s decision, sparking speculation that the discussion revolved around El-Rufai’s unsuccessful confirmation.

Although the details of the meeting were not officially disclosed, sources within the Presidential Villa suggested it centered on El-Rufai’s ministerial nomination.
A senior adviser to the President stated that the purpose of the visit was to address the Senate’s matter, expressing optimism that a resolution would be reached.
The Senate’s spokesperson, Yemi Adaramodu, indicated that the unconfirmed nominees might be reinvited for fresh screening if necessary.
It was earlier reported that during El-Rufai’s initial Senate screening, concerns were raised regarding issues related to security, national unity, and cohesion.
