Abia State Governor Alex Otti has issued an order for vehicles currently parked on the roadside or median from Nkwoegwu Down to Ubakala Junction to relocate to Ohiya Motor Park in Umuahia.
Makeshift shops, shanties, and other unauthorized structures along these sections must be cleared before the specified deadline.
The governor’s directive, conveyed through a statement by his special adviser on media and publicity, Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, aims to decongest, clean, enhance safety, and improve the aesthetic appeal of the state capital and its vicinity.
This move also seeks to mitigate the risks posed by illegal parking and trading activities.
Those affected by the directive have been given until Wednesday, August 17, 2023, to adhere to the instructions.
The state government emphasized that any vehicles still parked or loading in the designated areas after the deadline will be seized, while any shops remaining in violation of the directive will be dismantled.
