Lagos trader explains why she uses her 10 year old niece as drug courier

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended Taye Abass, a female trader, for allegedly using her niece to traffic a dangerous substance called Colorado as a way to evade police scrutiny.

Abass, residing in the Oko Oba region of Lagos, confessed to the offense during her presentation by the police at the state headquarters in Ikeja.

She admitted to using her niece to transport the drugs from her residence to her shop to avoid suspicion, as the young girl would not be easily suspected.

Abass stated that she concealed the drug in the girl’s underwear when transporting it to her shop and then retrieved it from there.

Claiming hardship as a factor, Abass pleaded for leniency and forgiveness, noting that other collaborators had fled.

The underage girl, who was found with the drug, confirmed her aunt’s actions, explaining that she was instructed to carry the substance to prevent police searches.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, highlighted that Abass was apprehended due to the combined efforts of the public and the police.

The girl will be returned to her family, and Abass will face appropriate legal action.
